Christmas 2010

There is nothing like seeing the magic of Christmas through your children. They really are the magic. Jacob really believed in Santa this year and it was just so special.

Our Elf On the Shelf (Jingles)came to our house the day after Thanksgiving. Each night he flies to the North Pole and reports to Santa. Between this time and Christmas there is a lot of "you better be good cause Jingles is watching and also tell Jingles what you want for Christmas". Jacob and Gavin really enjoyed finding him each morning and talking to him. Though it didn't stop them from fighting! Then we saw Santa at the mall and the boys told him what they wanted. Chloe was a little too afraid of Santa this year... maybe next year. The week before Christmas Jacob, Gavin and Chloe each received a video email from Santa (portablenorthpole.tv/). Santa talked to each one and in his big book, it had a picture of them, gave facts about each of them and also listed a toy they had asked for. Jacob was fascinated with this and watched it many times. He said "Now I know what the real Santa looks like" Jacob's email said he wanted Lego Atlantis."How did Santa know I wanted that, when I saw him I asked for star wars stuff." Then he thought a minute and said "Jingles must have told him". So cute. Gavin was very excited too and couldn't wait to see what Santa would bring him. We had our countdown to Christmas rings hanging. Each morning Jacob and Gavin took off another ring bringing it one day closer. Gavin really loved this and had fun counting the days.

Before we knew it, Christmas Eve was here! It seemed to have come so fast this year. Probably because of all the excitement! We went to the Children's Mass at Church. Chloe loved the music and was talking to everyone around her. She certainly knows how to win people over with her cuteness. I think we may be in trouble when she gets older. The boys loved it too. The Priest has all the kids go to the alter and asks them questions about the true meaning of Christmas. It is very funny to hear some of their responses. After Church we went to my Mother in Laws house to celebrate with my husbands family. My husbands Memere was there too. She is getting older and we don't really know how many Christmas's she has left so it is always extra special to see her. We played a few games, ate a Delicious dinner and opened presents. The highlight was when Justin Bieber made an appearance and surprised my niece Courtney! As always, there was a lot of laughing and a great time.

We got home pretty late, put out cookies and milk for Santa and put the kids to bed and Matt and I set up for the Big morning. Jacob tried waking everyone up at 5:15am! He couldn't get anyone up so he went back to bed and tried again about 7am. This time it worked. We all ran down stairs and started opening the gifts. They were so excited! Even Chloe opened her own gifts. She loved ripping the wrapping paper. She got a kitchen which she instantly stared playing with. A big hit. Then my dad, Muriel and grandmother came over for breakfast. They had the big gifts that the boys really wanted! Needless to say, the huge Star Wars ships were a big hit.Jake knew how much they cost because he has been wanted them for a while and was very impressed that grandpa and Muriel spent so much. We opened gifts with them, had our breakfast and drank our Bloody Mary's.

Then we went to my moms for dinner. We opened gifts with my mom, Stepfather, sister and her boyfriend Seth. Then my aunt Gail and Uncle Richard came by. My Uncle Richard snuck away and put on a Santa suit. The kids were very excited that Santa made an appearance to Nana's house. My Uncle Freddy and his girlfriend Cindy came by as well as my cousin Miranda and her boyfriend came for dinner. We all had a good time catching up. We had a wonderful and busy day. Needless to say, the day after Christmas was spent in our PJ's!!!
